To ensure your tattoo heals properly and maintains its best appearance over time, proper aftercare is essential.
At Bondi Fineline Studio, we’ll apply antiseptic cream to your new tattoo and cover it with plastic wrap (glad wrap) for protection. Once you’re home, follow these steps:
Initial Cleaning: After 2-4 hours, remove the plastic wrap and wash the area thoroughly with warm water and a perfume-free liquid soap to prevent irritation.
Drying and Reapplying Cream: Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel, then apply a thin layer of antiseptic cream, such as Bepanthen. Re-wrap the tattoo with plastic wrap overnight to protect it.
Morning Care: The next morning, take a shower and wash the tattoo again, avoiding high-pressure water directly on the area. Pat it dry and apply another thin layer of Bepanthen, but do not re-wrap it—the tattoo needs air to heal properly.
Healing Tips:
Allow the tattoo to breathe. Leaving plastic wrap on for too long or applying excessive cream can suffocate the tattoo and delay healing.
For the first 4 days, wash the tattoo at least twice daily and apply a thin layer of Bephanthen
By day 3 or 4, your tattoo will form a light scab—this is normal. DO NOT PICK THE SCAB! Picking can damage the tattoo and affect its color.
Important Reminders:
Avoid soaking the tattooed area. This means no long showers, baths, swimming pools, saunas, or swimming in the sea.
Keep the tattoo out of the sun entirely. Sunburn can fade fresh ink and even affect older tattoos.
Follow these steps for two weeks or until your tattoo is fully healed to ensure the best results.
